As a citizen of the city of Webster Groves we have become accustomed to having fireworks on several night over the 4th of July holiday. Over the last few years the multiple days of fireworks have diminished from three nights to two and then down to just the 4th. What has happened is the fireworks are financially afforded by generous donations from large corporations, banks and other established businesses in the community. As the economy turns it has taken its toll on our citizens and the businesses in our community. The donations have started to dwindle all the way down to the point of just covering the fireworks only on the 4th. It seems that the large businesses want their donations to go only to the largest night of the holiday, leaving the other nights without fireworks.
The city employee that is in charge of soliciting the donations for the fireworks contacted us here at Shur-Way for help. He felt that we had a lot of contacts that maybe we could pull donations from. Vicky Swederska of Shur-Way Auto Body took on the challenge of finding contributors. After weeks of asking here business contacts, she only came up with three willing to donate to the fireworks on the 3rd of July.
So with that I am very proud to say that Shur-Way Auto Body Inc was one of the large contributors to the fireworks on the 3rd of July in the city of Webster Groves. Giving back to the whole community in a way that many citizens would enjoy immensely.
